A Place to Relax

Location

Burnhead Bothy is based on Burnhead Farm run by Duncan and Ashley MacGregor, Duncan is the 3rd generation of the MacGregor family to farm here. Duncan breeds pedigree Scottish Blackface Sheep and Charolias Cattle on our 1600 acres hill farm. We also have Highland Cattle and Swiss Valais sheep. Although we are in a rural setting, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Falkirk are all within easy reach by road or rail.

Burnhead Bothy is a sustainable timber frame building located in the Kilsyth Hills. Designed with its location in mind, its positioning makes the most of the views across the hills towards Glasgow. Situated in a field grazed by our livestock, the bothy is accessed through a farm track (not tarmac).

Amenities

Our bothy has everything you need for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The open plan design features a kitchen, dining and living area with a wood burning stove and comfortable sofa bed. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob, oven, and a small fridge. There is a separate double bedroom and bathroom with an electric shower and flushing toilet. The large deck spans two sides of the bothy providing the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the surrounding countryside views.

Off Grid

As the bothy is "off grid" there are no power sockets, the solar panels provide enough 12v electricity to power low voltage lighting and there are USB/car charger points to charge a mobile phone or laptop.

Unfortunately we can't accommodate dogs as we are a working farm.

Wood for the stove is provided along with towels, bedding and a 12v hairdyer.
